Parshat Vayikra Shemini
Leviticus 9.1 – 11.47

Learning To Remain Holy

ֵEvery Parshat is unique. I not know every uniqueness in Parshat Shemini. Those who study Ha Torah know that Parshat Shemini is unique the Eighth Day of Installation happens during Parshat Shemini.1 Our Sages Teach The Eighth Day was Sunday, Rosh Rhodesה Nissan, The Jewish New Year.1 Every Day for Seven Days Moses set up and took down The Holy Tabernacle. Now it was The Eighth Day. The Eighth Day was the inauguration of The Holy Tabernacle, Aharon The Kohen Gadol / High Priest and the sons of Aharon The Kohanium / The Priests.

Every Day for Seven Days Moses set up and took down The Holy Tabernacle.2 Now it was The Eighth Day. The Eighth Day was the inauguration of The Holy Tabernacle, Aharon The Kohen Gadol / High Priest and the sons of Aharon The Kohanium / The Priests.

Today, on The Eighth Day for the first time Aharon performs the service of offering The He-Goat as The Sin Offering, The calf and lamb as The Burnt Offering and the ox and ram as The Peace Offering, and fine flour for / The Meal-Offering.3

After offering The Offerings Aharon descends from the Holy Altar. He raises his hands and Blesses The People by saying Birkas Kohanim.4 Fire Came Forth from Before HaShem and consumes The Offerings. All The people see and raise their voices in praise to HaShem. The People fall on their faces in worship.

Nodav and Avihu bring a strange fire with incense before HaShem. Fire Came forth from HaShem and consumed them. Aharon's two sons died.

Then Moses and Aharon taught The People Precepts of what was acceptable to eat from what was not acceptable to eat. The taught The People how to distinguish between clean animals, birds and fish from unclean animals, birds and fish.

Can we see how Parshat Shemini is distinguished, special and uncommon from other Parshot?

The hidden - There are Words in each Parshat that stand out. They are distinct. Often the usage of a Unique Word is rare. We will discuss Two Unique Words.

Vayikra 10.3

Leviticus 10.3

Exodus 29.4
And I Will Sanctify The Tent of Meeting, and The altar; I Will Sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, אֲקַדֵּשׁ to be Separated to me in The Priest’s Office.

The Letter א Aleph is placed in front of קָדֵשׁ Kaw Daysh. א The Letter Aleph Represents HaShem. Notice the center Letters spell קד meaning 104 and Fire. We read that a Fire Came Forth from HaShem twice. The Word קָדֵשׁ Kaw Daysh - Holy Separate is Written 104 times in Ha Torah.

The Letter א Aleph is placed in front of כָבֵד Chaw Vayd א The Letter Aleph Represents HaShem. Notice the center Letters spellבוֹ Boh meaning In Him, In it and therein. In Parshat Shemini we read,

Vayikra 11.44

Leviticus 11.44

For I Am The Lord your God; וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתֶּם and you shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and you shall be Holy; for I Am Holy; nor shall you defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.

Our Creator is saying to us, Within Him There is Holiness. Our Creator Wants His Holiness to be in each of us. Notice the center Two Letters of

וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתֶּם Vih Hee Tih Kah Dee Shih Tehm meaning, and you shall therefore sanctify yourselves. The center Letters are קד.

In Parshat Tzav we discussed that The Word צַו Tzav is to be understood as teach precepts. I shared about the Seven Laws in Genesis 2.16. One of The Seven Laws is defined as לֵאמֹר Lay Moor, meaning to speak / to Teach. In Leviticus 11.2 the concept of לֵאמֹר Lay Moor is continued when HaShem Instructs Moses and Aharon to לֵאמֹר Lay Moor, i.e. Teach the precepts regarding what living things are acceptable to eat and what living things are not acceptable to eat. We learned about vessels which were unclean and impure and if and how they could be restored to clean pure. Eventually these precepts are drawn to a conclusion in Verses 44 and 47. In other words, how we eat and what we eat impacts our degree of Holiness / Separation to HaShem. We can be pure or repulsive. The choice is ours. Our relationship with The Creator is impacted by our choices. Our relationship with our spouse, children, relatives, community is impacted by our choices. We are what we consume!

Pharmaceutical Manufactures are required to share how a drug can impact the user. It is important to pay attention to the know effects. I take medication for diabetes mellitus. An additional medication was necessary to bring my blood sugar down. The new medicine caused me to be dizzy for several hours after taking it. This was a side effect. There were other side effects. I mentioned these to my doctor. He did not seem interested. I changed doctors. My new provider immediately told me to stop taking that medication and prescribed another medicine that had no noticeable side effects. We can understand the impact of medicine but we sometimes struggles with the impact of the foods we eat and how we consume it.

The Gematria of לְלַמֵּד Lih Lah mayd meaning To Teach is 104. The Gematria of קד is also 104. We were born into this world as perfect pure holy beings. We were entirely without any sin. The Mitzvot of Ha Torah are intend to assist us with remaining Holy and separated. When an individual purchases a new auto they receive an owners manual which instructs them in how to use and care for their new auto. We can understand the importance of the owner's manual for a new auto but sometimes struggle with The Manufactures Guide for us. We want better relationships. The Manufactures Guide explains how we can have better relationships. It's up to us to learn. Dear Ones it is up to us to learn how to remain Holy / return to being Holy.

לְלַמֵּד

Lih Lah Mayd / To Teach

ל30 ל30 מ40 ד4 = 104

קד

ק100 ד4 = 104

מָנוֹחַ

Maw Noo Ach / Peaceful / Restful

מ40 נ50 ו6 ח8 = 104

מָנוֹחַ Maw Noo Ach is a peaceful restful state of being. Learning to be righteous assists us in entering into a special place protected from outside interference. We look to the coming Moshiach / Messiah to usher in מָנוֹחַ Maw Noo Ach. Today we maybe troubled and stressed and anxious but when Moshiach comes the lion will lay down with the lamb. We will enter a state of מָנוֹחַ Maw Noo Ach. Today we can experience a taste of what the special מָנוֹחַ Maw Noo Ach will be like. Observing the Mitzvot of Ha Torah helps us to taste מָנוֹחַ Maw Noo Ach before Moshiach comes.

May Our Creator Bless each who study, learn and Observe Ha Torah.
