Parshat Vayikra Metzora

Leviticus 14.1 - 15.33

God's Will

Dear Reader, This Parshat follows a previous discussion where we learned that The People of Israel have special Mitzvot that HaShem Has Given to them alone. Please click on Red to study both. People of the world are not required to Observe these Mitzvot. Only The People of Israel are judged for failing to Observe these Mitzvot. Only The People of Israel are punished for failing to Observe these Mitzvot. Failing to Observe these Mitzvot are a sin for The People of Israel. They are not a sin for the rest of the world. Observance of certain Mitzvot separate The People of Israel from the rest of the world.

Some parents allow their children cell phones other parents do allow their children cell phones. The children of the parents that are permitted to use cell phones do so with the blessing of their parents. The children of parents that prohibit their children from owning and using cell phones get in trouble for not following their parents wishes. They maybe punished. They may face restriction and so forth. We can understand this simple explanation but may struggle with HaShem requiring more Observances from The People of Israel.

In our previous discussion we learned that occasionally there maybe individuals among The People of Israel that speak slander and spread slander about other Jews. This is a sin they maybe punished for.

I am writing this discussion in 5776 From Creation. The Democrat and Republican Parties are in the process of selecting a presidential candidate. Several candidates have said awful things about other candidates. Much of the general public in The United States of America are in an outrage at the insults, etc. I don't like it! I think insulting others is the wrong path to take. Having said this we see James and Paul's influence on those who are Christians. In the previous discussion I quoted James, James wrote, 'If any man among you seem to be religious, and does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain...For in many things we offend everyone. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man. He is able to bridle his entire body. Paul wrote, 'Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.'1 Both of these Christian teachings hold Christians responsible for what they say. Ha Torah does not hold them accountable. The Catholic and Christian doctrines hold Christians responsible. He we see the influence of Ha Torah among Christians. I don't want to come across as giving the impression that Christians are bad. That would be wrong. In the previous discussion I shared Observances regarding slander and spreading slander. I shared that Rabbi Jesus was accountable for his improper actions in Matthew 23. Then I pointed to the teachings of James and now Paul, to show that Christians do not accept poor behavior either. We come to our conclusions about slander and speaking slander from different places but arrive at nearly the same place.

Here in Parshat Metzora we consider God's Will. What is God's Will for each of us? We can define what God Desires by what Instruction He Gives us. We know that HaShem does not approve of speaking slander or spreading slander. We know speaking slander and spreading slander is a sin for the People of Israel when it is directed at another among Kal Yisroel / all of Israel. In Parshat Tzaria we learned about the sacrifices that must be brought to be cleansed. In Parshat Metzora we learn about the process.

In Parshat Tzaria that the sinner / violator must tear his / her garment. This is a reminder to mourn for his / her sins of slandering and spreading slander. The individual who slandered and spread slander must be isolated. They cannot live among The People of Israel or enter the Tabernacle area. When anyone approached them they must cry out with a warning UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN! All of these are Mitzvot / Commandments from HaShem. Each expresses His Will. When one sins by speaking slander and spreading slander a period of mourning is required. We must come to grips with the poison we have spread among The People of Israel. We must realize our words can be deadly. Our words can cut. Our words can hurt. Our words can wound. Still, realizing is not enough, the slanderer must mourn. He / She must come to that place where they feel the pains of death that they have caused. Dear Reader, there is a process. Saying I'm sorry is NOT enough. A slanderer cannot just pass off their sinful actions by saying, I'm sorry! The slander must live in a state of mourning. They tear their clothes, must let their hair grow as long as they are afflicted, they do not launder their garments, they cover their head down to their lip. This is The Will of God for the one who has slandered or spread slander. Since the slander he / she spread caused separation among The People of Israel the slanderer must be isolated. The slanderer must realize his / her words of slander cause others to feel isolated.

If his or her garments have the potential for tzaraat they must be examined by the Kohen / Priest. If tzaraat is found in their wool, flax or leather clothes those clothes must be burned. This is The Will of God for the one who has slandered or spread slander. From this we learn that our words enter articles of clothing. In Parshat Metzora we learn our words enter the walls of our home. Our words enter wood, plaster and rocks / stones. This speaks to the devastation and penetrating force that our words have. Dear Ones, Ha Torah is Teaching us that unlike other sins the slanderer and spreader of slander is required to go through this process. Do we understand that it is HaShem that afflicts the slanderer and the spreader of slander with tzaraat? It is The Will of God that the slanderer go through a process of acknowledgement, of repentance and purification.

The much finer point is that our Creator's Desire is for each of us to be circumspect in our speech and with our words towards The Holy People. It is The Creator's Will that we do not get out of line with our speech. It is The Creator's Will that we do not slander and that we do not spread slander about The Holy People. However, if we fail and if an individual among the Holy People speaks slander or spreads slander about another member of The Holy People then it is God's Will that individual goes through the process.

It is God, our Creator that is afflicting the one who slanders. It is God that Orders that the slanderer and spreader of slander be removed from among The nation of Israel and be isolated outside the encampments, cities etc.

It is The Will of God for the slanderer and spreader of slander to repent. God is the first to know when that individual repents for their sin of slander and spreading slander. It is God who removes the tzaraat from the slanderer. This is what we understand. Tzaraat is an a Spiritual affliction that does not require healing. Tzaraat requires acknowledgement of one's errors and a plan to reverse thier direction and a willingness to pay restitution. When the slanderer meets these conditions our Creator removes the affliction. There are no miracles involved with this disease. Each of us has free will. Each individual who has been afflicted with tzaraat must make the choice to stop slandering and to repent. When he does the affliction is removed.

Being isolated outside the camp without companionship, communication etc. is intended to give the slanderer and spreader of slander the opportunity to reflect on what he has done. Being isolated is intended to help him realize his fallen state and his deficiencies. The slanderer and spreader of slander must experience isolation. What is it like to be sorrowful, to be lonesome, to long for a normal life, to desire to return to his home, wife, children, relatives, business? He must be motivated to acknowledge his sin and to repent. This is God's Will.

זֹאת תִּהְיֶה תּוֹרַת הַמְּצֹרָע This shall be the [purification] procedure for the Leper - The actual Words are; This is Torah the Metzora. In other Words Here is The Observance for purification for the one who has slandered and spread slander.

The process requires the Kohen / Priest to examine the afflicted party to determine if the affliction remains or if the affliction has been lifted. After the slander repents he meets with the Kohen / Priest to be examined. Do not be mistaken about this meeting. The Kohen's examination is not just to look at the visible affliction, he examines the individuals heart. He instructs the slanderer and spreader of slander with Words of Ha Torah. How do we know this. ONLY the Words of Ha Torah have the power to restore. Only God Knows how many times the Kohen may meet to examine him. The Kohen helps to draw him back to the right path. This is the process before the process God established in Ha Torah. It is important to keep in mind that the one who slandered and who spread slander may be isolated for Seven Days or longer. It is the slanderer who makes that determination. It is the process that assists him in making that decision.

בְּיוֹם טָהֳרָתוֹ וְהוּבָא אֶל־הַכֹּהֵן The procedure is done in the day light and not at night. - Ha Torah Says, בְּיוֹם Bih Yom meaning in the day time. בְּיוֹם טָהֳרָתוֹ Bih Yom - Taw Haw Taw Toh means Purification shall be in the Day. The purification Procedure must be evidence testifying to past guilt of slander and spreading slander as well as witness of repentance and one's return to the path of right living. The community must know that he has dealt with the sins of slander and spreading slander. The humiliation of appearing as a metzora in the daytime before the Kohen speaks to the change in his Spirituality and his improvement. He is openly acknowledging his former sins in the daytime by coming before the Kohen, i.e. HaShem's representative to confess. In return he receives Grace and Love. Mystically this is a Sign of God's Love and Grace. The acts of slander he once spread in secret he openly acknowledges and seeks forgiveness. This is the procedure. This is God's Will.

בְּיוֹם
Bih Yom / in the day time
ב2 י10 ו6 ם40 = 58

חֵן
Chayn / to find Grace
ח8 ן50 = 58

אֹהֲבִים
Oh Ha Veem / To Love
א1 ה5 ב2 י10 ם40 = 58

וְהוּבָא Vih Hoo Vaw - and he will be brought אֶל־הַכֹּהֵן Ehl - Ha Kohen - to the Kohen. - Only a man of Holiness determines if and when the metzora is no longer afflicted. He will be brought to the Kohen outside of the camp to be examined. He cannot come on his own. He MUST be brought. What brings him? Repentance! Why does he come before The Kohen? It is to see if he is like in the past. The Letter Chof is the Gematria 20. The Letter Chof is a connecting Letter that means 'LIKE', as in it is something like it was before. The Gematria for וְהוּבָא Vih Hoo Vaw is also 20.

וְהוּבָא
Vih Hoo Vaw
ו6 ה5 ו6 ב2 א1 = 20

Notice the first two Letters are the final two Letters of The Holy Name and the second and third Letters are the center Letters of The Holy Name. Mystically we Observe that the individual who once slandered and who once spread slander has come to HaShem. The Holy Presence Brings the metzora to The Kohen. He cannot approach on his own. HaShem Informs the Kohen that the individual is ready to be examined. Think of the Kohen. He is among the separated people, i.e. The Holy People of Israel. He is of The Holy Tribe of Levi and the Holy family of Aharon and his sons. When the people sinned at the golden calf the Levites stood with Moses and Joshua. The Holy Tribe of Levi did not send a Tribal Leader to spy out the Land of Canaan. The Holy Tribe of Levi stood with Moses, Joshua and Caleb when The men of Israel revolted because of the evil report / slander the ten spiers who spoke about The Holy Land of Canaan. The point is that a Kohen / a Priest stands for Holiness, separation and righteousness. HaShem Communicates His Will through the Kohnaim / the Priests. One cannot be appointed as Priest. The Kohen is born into the Priesthood. His father was a Kohen. His grandfather was a Kohen. This is the individual that will examine the metzora.

שְׁתֵּי־צִפֳּרִים חַיּוֹת טְהֹרוֹת - Two Live Clean Birds - The birds must be clean. Birds of prey cannot be used. They kill for for survival. Our Sages Teach the purpose for birds is because birds chirp. The slanderer and the spreader of slander chirped out his slander. Why were kosher birds selected? Clean Birds are chickens, turkeys, doves, pigeons etc. In addition to being clean birds they must be kosher. חַיּוֹת Chah Yoht - meaning to live - This tells us they must be Kosher. They cannot show any evidence that they are dying. They must look healthy and pure. They cannot have missing body parts. They cannot have broken or deformed body parts. Before repenting the slander and spreader of slander was Spiritually deformed. He was not Spiritually healthy. Something in him needed fixing. He required restoration. He was not living a clean life. He was spreading slander. The two clean birds point out the metzora's new clean kosher life. There are two Clean Kosher birds. One is slaughtered, i.e shechitahed. A razor sharp knife is used to cut the front of its neck. The other is set free. The dead bird represents the metzora's former life. It is dead to him now. The dead bird is buried like his his former sin. The bird that is set free carries the blood stains of a previous life that no longer has a hold him.

וְעֵץ אֶרֶז - And a Tree of Cedar - The tree symbolizes haughtiness. Just as a tree grows tall and towers over other vegetation the slanderer was arrogant. The slanderer had an exaggerated sense of his own importance or opinion. He did not care about others. What he wanted was more important. He placed himself up high as if he were God. Notice the last Letter of וְעֵץ. The Letter Tzaddi towers high. The Letter Tzaddi represents the Righteous. However, here it represents an arrogant slanderer who is thinks of himself as being so holy. He thinks he is above all others. His exaggerated sense of importance stands out like a tree. He is fallen like Cain. Yet, he refuses to think of himself as fallen.

וְעֵץ
Vih Aytz / And the Tree
ו6 ע70 ץ90 = 166

עֶלְיוֹן
Eh Li Yohn
Lofty, Superior, Supreme
We speak of God as being Supreme, not humans.
ע70 ל30 י10 ו6 ן50 = 166

נָפְלוּ
Naw Fih Lu One who is fallen
נ50 פ80 ל30 ו6 = 166

HaShem Instructed Noah to build the ark out of cedar wood. The Cedar wood was of a special species, Gopher. This wood withstood heat caused by sulfur.2 Cedar was the wood that was burnt along with The Parah Adumah / The Red Heifer who ashes were used to purify.3 The Holy Temple was constructed with Cedar. The Holy Place was constructed with Cedar. The Holy Altar in The Holy Temple was constructed with Cedar and overlayed with pure gold.4 When one reads The Holy Scriptures they may not be informed of the special Holy uses for Cedar. Cedar is the Gematria of 208. The he Gematria for Haggar, the mother of Ishmael, the servant wife of Abraham is also 208. After Sarah died Abraham took Haggar back as his wife. Her name was changed to Keturah. Why? She became beautiful with Torah Observances. She was known for remaining faithful To Abraham. This is symbolic of the slanderer and spreader of slander who changed his ways and became beautiful in his Torah Observances and remained Observant to Ha Torah.

אֶרֶז
Eh Rez Cedar
א1 ר200 ז7 = 208

הָגָר
Haggar - Wife of Abraham
ה5 ג3 ר200 = 208

וּשְׁנִי תוֹלַעַת And Crimson Dyed Wool - The wool reminds us of the sacrifice the lamb made to provide the wool. We are also reminded of the tireless effort of the individual that spun the wool, i.e. that fashioned the wool into string. The string reminds us of one's Mother and the life giving force that traveled through that string called the umbilical cord. The metzora became detached from his Mother and her instructions. We are reminded of the lowly creature from which the crimson dye was extracted. The crimson changes the color of the wool. This speaks to the change of actions required by the slanderer and the spreader of slander. This speaks of humility. Repentance requires the penitent sinner to reverse their course of action. One should not be arrogant. One should be humble and meek.

וְאֵזֹב Vih Ay Zov meaning Hyssop - The Hyssop is a plant that is plentiful. It is not rare. The metzora must be cognizant of the presence of others. The hyssop is part of many similar branches.

כְּלִי־חֶרֶשׂ Cih Lee - Cheh Res meaning An Earthen Vessel / Bowl - The Earthen Bowl is a vessel that represents the ingredients of the metzora's physical body. Adam and Eve were formed from the dust of the ground to become holy vessels. The Earthen Vessel returns us to God's Will for Adam and Eve. God's Will was for Adam and Eve to live in The Garden in peace and tranquility forever. They were to learn and guard The Words of Ha Torah. They transgressed God's Will. They sinned. The metzora has transgressed God's Will. He sinned. The body of the metzora is a vessel which contains water and blood. In the past he used his vessel to contain slander, to pour out slander and to spread slander. The vessel used in the purification process is clean and free from slander. The Letters חרש inform us that the material for the vessel has been plowed under. The earth for this vessel was turned over. The earth was disrupted to make this vessel. The Letters חרש inform us that the vessel has the potential to be a device to plot evil against someone. The potential for good or evil must exist so that the Metzora can choose good of his own free will. The Letters חרש also mean to be deaf, i.e. keep silent, not to speak evil and to make deaf. In other words hear, not slander / evil speak not slander / evil.

כְּלִי־חֶרֶשׂ
Cih Lee - Cheh Res - An Earthen Vessel / Bowl
כ20 ל30 י10 =60
ח8 ר200 ש300 = 508

שָׁבוּר
Shaw Boor – To be broken
ש300 ב2 ו6 ר200 = 508

סָלַחְתִּי
Saw Lah Chih Tee - To Forgive
ס60 ל30 ח8 ת400 י10 = 508

Mystically we Observe that the slanderer and spreader of slander's vessel was broken, i.e. turned over and forgiven. He begins fresh as a renewed vessel with new water and blood.

עַל־מַיִם חַיִּים Upon Living Water, i.e. Water from A Natural Flowing Spring - The Kohen fills the vessel / bowl with natural spring water. The point is the water is called 'Living Water'. In actuality It is Living Water עַל Al from above. The water from a natural spring flows from above. We know this. Slander does NOT flow like a LIVING SPRING! Slander does not give life. Slander KILLS! Slander is not natural. The slander must be replaced by Observance.

עַל־מַיִם חַיִּים
Al - Mah Yeem - Chah Yeem - Upon / Above Living Water
ע70 ל30 = 100
מ40 י10 ם40 ח8 י10 י10 ם40 = 158

חֻקִּים
Choo Keem / Statutes
ח8 ק100 י10 ם40 = 148

The Statutes of Ha Torah help to repair and restore and to fortify that which was broken in us.

The piece of Cedar Wood, The Crimson Dyed Wool and the Hyssop are grouped together by another piece of Crimson Dyed Woven Wool. Binding them together speaks of unity. Then these articles and the living bird are placed in the Kohen's right hand and dipped into the blood water mixture.

The natural spring water is contaminated by the blood of the Kosher bird that gave its life. The bird was not eaten. The bird was buried. This symbolizes that sin brings about death and the grave. Water is a normally a cleansing agent, however, here this water contains the blood of the dead bird. The natural spring water and the Kosher bird's blood are mixed together. The water can not be drunk because we are not permitted to consume blood.

Then the living bird water / blood mixture are poured seven times on the back of the hand the metzora's hand. The living bird is sent away. The metzora's washes his clothing, shaves all his hair off. Washes in purifying water. He is permitted to enter the camp of The People of Israel. He is not permitted to enter his home for Seven days.

Seven Days pass. During these Seven Days the metzora is a primary cause of ritual impurity.

We have Observed that the procedure requires objects that are symbolic. The Symbols are used to teach the slanderer and spreader of slander the path to repentance and restoration. Symbols are used to teach us. The point is that one MUST understand the purpose for each symbol for the symbol to impact him. The symbols are important. God Established each symbol. The purpose for each symbol has to be clearly understood.

We have only briefly discussed the first Eight Scriptures of Leviticus 14. A few Words can mean so much in Ha Torah. There are more procedures to discuss regarding the metzora. However the point about God's will is made. None of this is necessary if we follow God's Will. Do not slander. Do not spread slander.

God established this process. It may seem odd to us. Hopefully the procedure is a little more meaningful after reading this discussion. I wanted to share briefly the procedure where by a leper is purified and returns to the path of right living. We only covered a portion of the procedure, yet, it is enough to understand God established the Command not to slander or to spread slander. Then God established the process whereby the slanderer and the spreader of gossip can be purified and return to the community and the path of right living.

Luke allegedly quotes Rabbi Jesus saying, 'And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them were cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.'

Naaman had leprosy. His was a physical disease that was NOT caused by speaking slander or by spreading slander. Naaman's leprosy required a physical healing. The Mitzvot of speaking slander and spreading slander about the People of Israel did not apply to him. The same may hold true regarding the ten lepers Luke mentions. We know one was a Samaritan. He was not Jewish.5 We also know the story is not true. How do we know this? Luke says, 'And it came to pass, as Rabbi Jesus went to Jerusalem, he passed through the middle of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him. They stood far away.' We already know lepers were not permitted inside walled cities. The point should be clear. Luke was not aware of the Mitzvot regarding lepers. Luke did not ask anyone who had a slight inkling of Torah Mitzvot to read or discuss what he wrote.

Now it is possible that some of the Jewish lepers in Israel had a different type of leprosy. That leprosy would have been contagious. If so it was not tzaraat which is caused by speaking slander and spreading slander about The People of Israel. There is no human cure for tzaraat other than repentance of the afflicted one. There are no miracles for this type of Spiritual affliction. As previously noted the afflicted individual was required to go through the procedure that required him to repent. If he didn't repent he remained a leper. The Will of God required the leper to repent, to change his course of action. I am saying Luke's claim that Rabbi Jesus cleansed the lepers is a farce. It is a fabrication. It did not happen. As noted before, lepers were not permitted to come into the city. Luke states Rabbi Jesus was at the gate of the city.

Touching a dead body makes one unclean.6 Yet, Luke claims that Rabbi Jesus touched the bier of the deceased. There by Rabbi Jesus became unclean. When one is unclean they are to avoid the public. They are not to spread uncleanness or contamination. They are quarantined for Seven Days.

Here is another Mitzvah given to The People of Israel that Rabbi Jesus did not observe. Was it a sin to violate this Instruction? For Christians no even though it would be wise to follow to avoid spreading disease and contamination. Dear Reader, it Observing Mitzvot like this one that separate The People of Israel from the rest of the world.

Luke shares a story of John The Baptist's Disciples approaching Rabbi Jesus and their discussion.

They said, 'John the Baptist has sent us to you. He wants to know, Are you the [Messiah] that should come, or should we look for another?'

[Rabbi Jesus said to them,] '...Go your way, and tell John what things you have seen and heard...tell him the blind see, the lame walk the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the gospel is preached to the poor.' The messengers of John departed. [After they departed Rabbi Jesus] began to speak to the people concerning John. He asked them, 'What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind, a man clothed in soft raiment, or a prophet? Yea, I say to you, [John the Baptist] is much more than a prophet. This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare thy way before you. For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist...'7

In Matthew Rabbi Jesus says John is Elijah the Prophet. However, when John The Baptist was asked, 'Are you Elijah the Prophet. John the Baptist replied, 'I am not!'8

In the above quote, Luke again states that Rabbi Jesus cleansed lepers. I was curious to see how Christian Messianic's translated the words, so I looked them up in a Christian New Testament translated into Hebrew. Another word was used for cleansed. This says to me the leper was not clean as required in Leviticus 13 - 14.

Now I would like to address several points in The Christian New Testament. The Christian New Testament copies events in Hebrew Scriptures. Abraham offered his son, the son he loved, Issac as a sacrifice on Mount Moriah. Christians teach God had a son Whom dearly loved and whom He Sacrificed on a wooden cross. At Passover the lamb or goat was sacrificed and the blood of lamb or goat was placed on the door post to save / protect ONLY the firstborn. Christians teach Rabbi Jesus was the lamb of God which took away the sins of the world. They teach he was like the Passover lamb. However, The Passover only protected the firstborn from death. The Passover lamb was NOT a sacrifice offering for sin!! There is no correlation between Passover and the forgiveness of sin. The People of Israel have Ha Torah, i.e. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Is it interesting that Christians have The Gospels, i.e. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Some include The Acts of The Apostles.

Abraham did not take Isaac's life. HaShem forbids taking life!!

The Passover Lamb did not forgive or cover sin. Only the firstborn were saved by the lamb's or kid's blood on the doorpost. A lamb is not used for the sacrifice of sin.

Rabbi Jesus is a sinner. He is not perfect. He is not the Moshiach / Messiah. He is not born of a virgin. He is not the son of God. He is NOT God!!The Torah of The Lord is Perfect. The Christian New Testament has thousands of errors and many contradictions. The Christian New Testament does NOT replace The Hebrew Scriptures or The Holy Torah. What sense does it make to replace a book that is perfect with a book filled with thousands of errors? Jacob had twelve sons that became The People of Israel, i.e. The Children of Israel? How is it that Rabbi Jesus had twelve disciples? Moses fasted for forty days while he was up on Mount Sinai receiving The Commandments. How is it that Rabbi Jesus spent forty days fasting and being tempted in the wilderness? Why do Christians call The Hebrew Scriptures 'The Old Testament and their sacred writings The New Testament? Testament means COVENANT. Where do we read of HaShem making a covenant with Christians? Nowhere!

Dear Reader, throughout this discussion we see that Christians are at a great disadvantage. There are so many misunderstandings! Writers of The Christian New Testament had little knowledge of Jewish Observances. They made fundamental mistakes. Matthew and Luke did not check out genealogies that existed in print for hundreds of years. Both wrote their genealogies in an awkward style. Matthew did not verify or record some of his allegations. Matthew, Mark and Luke did not consult with anyone who understood the Mitzvot of Ha Torah, i.e. an individual above the age of thirteen. What they have written clearly says that they do not know or seem to care anything about The Will of God.

May HaShem Bless all who study and learn HaTorah and Observe The Mitzvot.
