Limood

Bereisheit [Genesis] 13.1 - 18

The last four words of this Torah Limood are .hwO:hylæ jæBez"mi µv;Aˆb,yIwæ Vah Yee Vehn - Shawm - Meez Bat Ach - Lah  Hashem { And [Avram] build there an Altar to Hashem}.  In Bereisheit 12.4 Ha Torah States,  'And He, Avram, went rv,a}Kæ Cah Ah Shehr like that Word told him by Hashem...'  What was it that Avram did?

Bereisheit 12.1-He went away from his birth place... Bereisheit 12.4 He left Charan...  Bereisheit 12.5 He set out for the land of Canaan...  He came to the land of Canaan... Avram travel through the land of Canaan until he reached Shechem until the plain of Moreh [Teacher]...

Bereisheit 12.7 He built an altar there. Hashem Appeared [Spiritually to him there]...

Bereisheit 12.8 Avram continued to the mountain just east of Bet El.  He set up a tent.  He built an altar.  He proclaimed the Name of Hashem.

Bereisheit 12.9  Avram journeyed southward...

Bereisheit 12.10 Because of famine Avram went dr<yIwæ Vah Yee Rehd down to Mitzriam...  We could say he got a little off the path because Ha Torah Says He went down to Mitzriam. Later when Avram exits Mitzriam Ha Torah Says, Avram went up from Mitzriam...

Bereisheit 13. 2 Avram was very wealthy...

Bereisheit 13.3 Avram continued on his travels to Bet El until the place hy:h;Arv,a} Ah Shehr - Haw Yawh {that it happened} there he set his tent where it began between Bet El and Ai.

Bereisheit 13.4 To the Place of the altar that he made there first and there he called on the Name of Hashem.

Bereisheit 13.17 Avram set up his tent.  Avram Settled.  Avram built an altar to Hashem.  .hwO:hylæ jæBez"mi µv;Aˆb,yIwæ Vah Yee Vehn - Shawm - Meez Bat Ach - Lah  Hashem { And [Avram] build there an Altar to Hashem}.

521 = r200 v300 a1 a1 k20

521 = h5 y10 h5 -  r200 v300 a1

521 = h5 w6 h5 y10 l30 -  j8 b2 z7 m40 -  µ40 v300 -  ˆ50 b2 y 10 w6

Notice the acronyms - Two words are formed from the first letters of .hwO:hylæ jæBez"mi µv;Aˆb,yIw  ymi - Mee anyone, he who whoever  vyE - Yaysh meaning existence.  This says that the place of existence for anyone is the place Avraham built an Alter to Hashem and proclaimed His Name...

Dear Ones when we go down to Mitzriam pray that we will rise up out of Mitzriam as Avram did.

G-d Willing we will return to the place that we first placed our tent which was near to the Altar of Hashem where we proclaimed the Name of Hashem.

Blessings and peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel

The Name of Avram's Wife was Sarai

The Wealth of What Names Tell Us ©

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

Our Devri Torah is in the loving Memory of Mrs. Ethel Channah Sakash Belk, Mr. George Belk, Mr. Donald Wayne Belk and Mr. Gary Lee Belk and Mr. Arnold Student Litman may they rest in peace.

Limood Bereisheit 11

Bereisheit [Genesis] 11

Bereisheit 11.29 And Avram and Nachor took themselves wives.  The wife of Avram was Sarai...

The word tv,ae Ay Sheht meaning wife is interesting.  Ay Sheht has the Gematria of 701. Other words that share the Gematria 701 are:

 taec] Sih Ayt meaning elevation, majesty, dignity, strength and vigor.

ytirEp]hiw" Vih Hee Pih Ray Tee meaning And I [Elokim] Will Make you [Sarah] fruitful.

 µykia;l]mæ {Gematria Miluy Gadol} Mahl Aw Cheem meaning Angel, Messenger, Delegate, prophet.

701 = t400 v300 a1

701 = t400 a1 c300

701 = y10 t400 r200 p80 h5 w6

{Gematria Miluy Gadol}

701 = µ600 y10 k20 a1 l30 m40

So when Ha Torah Says 'The Name of Avram's Wife was Sarai' its real important to note that the name  tv,ae Ay Sheht Mystically Teaches that a wife is to be elevated by her husband.  A wife is to be treated with dignity.  Ones wife is worthy of honor and respect.  Why? Ha Torah Says, 'The Name of Avram's Wife was Sarai'.  Is the emphasis on Avram's wife's name is Sarai?  Or is the emphasis on Sarai is Avram's wife?  One could make an argument for both positions.   Notice the order of the words at the top of the page.  They are: Name Wife Avram Sarai.  The name wife comes first.  Why?  The name wife describes a position.  The name Sarai describes a person.  We observe the same pattern of words with Adam Ha Reshon.  Notice Bereisheit 2.20

 .yj...âAlK; µa´à ht...`y"h...â awhià yKiö hW:-j' /T¡v]ai µv´à µd:üa;h...â ar:éq"YIw"

The third word from the right is Shaym meaning name.

The fourth word from the right is Eesh Toh meaning wife.

The fifth word from the right is Chah Vah meaning Eve or mother of all living.

So while Ha Torah's purpose is to introduce Sarai as Avram's wife in actuality Ha Torah is Saying the wife of Avram is Sarai!  So the name wife takes precedence over the wife's name.  In other words the actions of what describes a wife's position is more important.

In Bereisheit 2.23 Adam Reshon calls Chavah hv;ai Ee Shaw meaning Woman or Wife.  hv;ai Ee Shaw is the root word for  tv,ae Ay Sheht meaning wife.  Our Sages Teach that the Letters a Aleph and [ Ayin maybe interchanged.  If we were to change the Aleph in hv;ai Ee Shaw to an Ayin the word would be spelled hc;[; Aw Saw meaning to make, to work, to labor, to act, to prepare, to produce, to yield, to create, to perform, to accomplish, to cause, to effect, to bring about, to execute, to appoint, to keep, to fulfill, to acquire to manage etc.  So by simply changing the Letter Aleph with an Ayin we see the fulfillment of  Proverbs 31.10- 31.

Epilogue: The Noble Wife of Good Character

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.  She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom,

and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears Hashem is to be praised.

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

The Letter Aleph reminds us of G-d our Creator in our wife.  The Letter Ayin reminds us of all the things we see her accomplish for our good.  Thank G-d for giving men wonderful wives!!

When we interchange the Letter Aleph with the Letter Ayin in tv,ae Ay Sheht we get tv,[, Eh Sheht meaning to grow stout or bar of steel or strength of steel.  The point is that the Letter Ayin represent eyesight.  It is so important for the husband to recognize his wifes strength's her contributions, her labors and all that she does to make the husband wife relations so wonderful.  When man views the relationship with the Letter Aleph he views the relationship with judgment.  When the man views the relationship with the Letter Ayin he views the relationship with eyesight with perception with appreciation for the many many contributions of his wife.

May Hashem Bless each wife with her husband's who deep appreciate for her contribution to their marriage.  May Hashem strengthen each husband wife relationship with love and compassion and much appreciation!

Blessings and peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel

Speaking Through the Generations

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

Our Devri Torah is in the loving Memory of Mr. Donald Wayne Belk and Mr. Gary Lee Belk, may they rest in peace.

Limood

Bereisheit [Genesis] 10

The world tdol]woT] {Toh Lih Dot} meaning 'generations' speaks to each of us.  The Gematria is 840.  Ha Torah Says, These are the generations of Noach, Sheim, Cham and Yafet.  How does the generations of Cham speak to us?  How does the generations of Yafet speak to us?  The fact is that Ha Torah for the most part follows the generations of Sheim.  It is the generations of Sheim that speak to us.  The generations of Cham and Yafet are mentioned her through Perek 11.  At the conclusion of Perek 11 Avram and Sarai are introduced.  So it is important to understand that Ha Torah for the most part covers the descendants of Sheim.  It is Sheim that is the chosen.

Why then does Ha Torah Say these are the descendants of Noach if for the most part only the descendants of Sheim are discussed?  Ha Torah focuses on the hope for humankind. Ha Torah is clearly Saying the hope for humankind comes through the descendants of Sheim.

In Vayikra 1.2 we see a similar approach.  Ha Torah Records, laer...c]yI ynEB]Ala, rBeDæ {Dah Bayr - Ehl Bih Nay - Yees Raw Ayl} meaning Speak to [the] children of Israel.  Why is this passage similar?  The Gematria is also 840. Vayikra / Leviticus focuses on offerings. There is Yisroel, Levim and Kohanim.  The function of the Kohanim is offerings and blessings etc.  It is the Kohan that is the chosen.

840 = t400 r200 l30 d4 t400

840 = l30 a1 r200 c300 y10 -  y10 n50 b2 -  l30 a1 -  r200 b2 d4

So Ha Torah includes everyone.  We all are the descendants of Noach.   We all enter through the same Tav of Toh Lih Dot.  The Letter Tav represents Truth.  Each soul comes from the original soul, Ha Adam.  Each soul experiences the Tav, Truth.  The Tav also represents perfection.  We entered this world Perfect through Ha Adam Reshon and Chavah Reshonah {the first man and the first woman}.  We will exit this world through the perfection of mashiach.

Toh Li Doht it is like a house with both a front and rear door. That is to say one enters the front and passes through the back as from generation to generation...  So even though we maybe come discourage because we are not from Sheim we are still part of the generations of Noach. One may feel let out because they are not the Kohan, a priest, yet we are B'nei Yisroel. ALL OF US came through the same door.  We will all exit through the same door!

Hashem Spoke through the descendants of Sheim.  Hashem Spoke through B'nei Yisroel.  We all benefit!

In a way if we receive a blessing does it matter who the blessing comes through?  Being blessed is the issue. May Hashem bless each of us through Sheim and through B'nei Yisroel!  May we receive a blessing!

Blessing and peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel
