Shalom Everyone our blog will be beginning in a few minutes. Those that are online please sign in.
Hello! I made it! Shalom, friends!
Of the list of possible subjects to discuss which one has special interest to you?
Hi, I’m interested in the study today.
Shalom Dr. Akiva Gamliel and Rebbetzin Naomi Leah,
could be begin the discussion with ‘A am your shield’?
The one that rings a bell is 1.) ‘Fear not Avram I am your shield, your reward is very great.’ This is in one of the first blessings of the Shemoneh Esrei, and it is a great comfort to me when I say this while davening.
Ur Kasdim - Wasn’t this the fiery furnace that Avram was thrown into and survived?
Please refresh your browsers. Look at the small Hebrew type. The second word which is in red is Tee Raw mean fear.
And the fifth Word is Maw Gayn which means shield. What can you share with us about Maw Gayn?
First the first Letter of Tee Raw, the Letter Tav is not part of the Word fear normally. Fear is Yaw Ray {left to right - Aleph, Reish Yud}. so why is the Letter Tav leading the Word?
What comfort this must have given Avram for Hashem To Speak to him, saying ‘Fear not.’ At least in reflection… we see Avram’s initial response was downhearted, still fearing that he and Sarai would remain childless. Hashem’s Speaking to him allowed him to open his heart and express his deepest fear, that he would have no progeny to carry on the abiding belief and understanding of the Truth of Hashem’s Existence.
We teach that whenever the Letter Tav appears in the front of a Word where it would normally not be found this represents a sign.
Very Good Dovi!
Also notice the Rebbetzin’s comment about davening. Why does ‘Fear Not’ provide such great comfort? This has to do with the Letter Tav. It is blasting ‘THIS IS A SIGN’! WHAT KIND OF SIGN IS THIS THIS?
Dovi, Thanks for the reminder that Tav in front of a word represents a sign. Maybe it is a sign for all of Avram’s progeny, ‘Fear not’ - there will always be the Jewish people, against great odds. And there will always be a greater circle of people who carry on the abiding faith in Hashem and the understanding of the Truth of His Most Holy Ineffable Existence, B’nai Noach.
For several reasons. I feel the Letter Tav is a sign because Hashem is Drawing our attention to not being afraid. why? Because He is our shield.
This also reminds us that Hashem is real close to us. For a shield to protect it must be close by.
Migaleh’s point is good. ‘Avram’s progeny, ‘Fear not’ - there will always be the Jewish people, against great odds. And there will always be a greater circle of people who carry on the abiding faith in Hashem…’ Yes!
Part of this has to do with inheritance. Hashem Took us as his people.
Our sages teach that Hashem offered Ha Torah to the other 69 nations of the world then after giving everyone else a chance to receive Ha Torah Hashem Offered Ha Torah to B’nei Yisroel [the children of Israel]. We took Ha Torah without question. We agreed to Observe Ha Torah without question. So we inherited Ha Torah.
The Gematria of Nah Chah Lah P{l-r - Hey(5) Lamid(30) Chet(8) Nun(50) is 93 which is the same as Maw Gayn.
So, Dr. Akiva, what is the inheritance? That special connection with Hashem for the Jewish people? This is an awesome gift. Beyond what most of us can fathom but is that what you mean by inheritance? We inherit that gift from our progenitors who stood at Har Sinai?
The second reason I feel we should not fear is because Tee Raw meaning ‘You Shall Not Fear’ is like a command from Ha Torah. Also both Tee Raw and Torah are the Gematria 611.
Good comment Dovi.
I feel the Letter Tav was added to Yaw Ray to help us to remember that we should not fear. We have the Torah of Hashem.
Oh yes, Ha Torah is our great inheritance, the precious Torah! But you lost me, Dr. Akiva Gamliel, on Nah Chah Lah P — does it mean inheritance? a form of ‘gift’?
Rabbi Michael L. Munk, The Wisdom in the Hebrew Alphabet, Teaches that the Letter Tav is ‘Truth’ so when we ad the Tav to Yaw Raw {Fear} we have Torah. The Torah is Truth. We should believe in Ha Torah and we should not fear.
Yes, Rebbetzin inheritance is a form of a gift. Ha Torah is our gift from Hashem. Our Sages Teach that the world was created for B’nei Yisroel and Ha Torah. What a great gift!
Fyi, to those uncertain what this week’s Limood is, it is Bereisheit Perek 15 (Genesis Chapter 15).
Dear ones thank you for joining with the Rebbetzin and me. I had a really great time learning with everyone.
Please join us this evening at JewishPath for another hour live blogging.
Blessings and peace,
Dr. Akiva Gamliel
Another reason I feel we should not be fearful is the Creator Has Given us a sign. The sign is the Letter Tav which begins Torah and Tee Raw. The Tav was also added to Tee Raw to remind us that the correct fear which is the fear of G-d is perfect.
I had fun today.
Dovi
So Nah Chah Lah P means inheritance and Ha Torah is our inheritance. And the Gematria of inheritance (Nah Chah Lah P)= 93 which is also the Gematria of shield (Maw Gayn). And this inheritance, Ha Torah, is a shield of protection. I must go, thank you for a beautiful study. I learned a lot! And it uplifted me! May all the dreams for good of the hearts of all students of Ha Torah come true!
Amen! Migaleh
Blessings of peace, spiritual growth, happiness, health and prosperity to all students of Ha Torah. Thank you for sharing the blog / Limood,
Naomi Leah
Moshe requested to Hashem, ‘Take us for your inheritance.’ Shemot 34.9
Devarim 4.21 Speaks about B’nei Yisroel being His inheritance.
Devarim 32.9 For Hashem’s portion is his people; Yaakov is the lot of his inheritance…
Devarim 33.4 Moshe Commanded us Ha Torah [which is] the inheritance of the congregation of Yaakov.
I wanted to conclude by saying BaMidbar 8.17 Says For all the firstborn of B’nei YIsroel are Mine…
