Blessings 1 Class 6
Blessings and Prayer
By Dr. Akiva Gamliel
In our world we need help. In our world we need a Creator who is Responsive. Sometimes we are like a roof with several thick layers . We have these dull times. We are emotional, yet show no emotion. The emotion builds and builds, and we like a pressure cooker are about to go off. The intensity of life is driving us... We do things that inhibit us from close contact with our Creator. We put road blocks up... we put speed bumps in the road. Our nature is such that we involve ourselves in doing a lot of stuff instead of what we want and need to do.
We have this desire to join the Creator in Praiseful Worship but allow things to interfere. Then we become unhappy. Then we beat ourselves up emotionally... We wish that we had been more diligent in our prayer or our studies. We think things like, I wish I had of forced the world outside of my life.
There are all kinds of forces that interfere with our prayer. Prayer is about containing those forces around us. Dear Ones, there are storms going on all around us. They follow us they follow us through the front door of our home and from room to room. They call us on our cell phones and phones.. The grab at us from within the internet. They blast out at us on TV... They are in our newspaper. They arrive in our mail.. They knock at our door... There is constant interference!!
From these troubles the pressure builds. We need relief! We need tranquility. We calmness.
We get up in the morning with an agenda. He hurry to work. Hurry to meet clients. We rush to return phone calls and answer inquires... We are on the go... go... go..!
It's challenging to dig in and get our prayers said. It is work! Real work to get our responsibilities completed. It becomes discouraging. If we are old we count the days before we meet our Creator. If we are young we count the hours until school is out. If we are in college we count the years until we graduate get married etc. The point is this. We are so often not where we want to be.
David Said, Give ear to my prayer, O God; and do not hide yourself from my supplication. Attend to me, and answer me; I sob in my complaint, and moan, Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. My heart inside me is in anguish; and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then I would fly away, and be at rest. Behold, then I would wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. I would hasten to find a refuge from the windy storm and the tempest. Tehilim 55.2-9.
Dear Ones, this is why we teach Prayerful Worship. We share these 3 word, 4 word and 5 word prayers in the original language. They are easy to learn. They feel so good when we say them. We repeat them over and over again and again. They help us to enjoy a Spiritual burst of worship and of praise. They help bring calmness to our day. They lift our ship in troubled storms... They buoy us.
These short Prayerful Worship Praises in Hebrew help us pull away from the storms and help us fly above the fray. They draw us away from our troubles and towards our Creator. They bring a calmness into our troubled times... That in part is what this course is about. We can have heavenly bliss about us.
We have to find some space among the pressures to give ourselves some room. Our space is so crowded. Our space becomes so difficult to maneuver that we need light to get around in. We need to go to the Creator and request a little of His Light. By His Light we shall see light! The Light of our Creator Helps us to see the light. Each of this mantras are a burst of Light.
We have been discussing worship prayers. Now we are moving to a different type of prayer. It's kind of bleeding, crying weeping type of prayer. We need to feel close to the Creator as in Tehilim / Psalm 91. Here one wants to go to that very very special place. One wants to unload all their problems on the Creator. One wants to feel the closeness of the Creator. One wants to feel the touch of the Creator and be reassured that all is fine. It is here that we need to breath in and out. We need to draw breath in and hold it then release it slowly as if we were working out so to speak.
Our discussion in this lesson is about how to draw close to the Creator with our breath. Our Creator is a Spirit / Breath / Wind. When our world is difficult we need refreshing. A refreshing is when we release the breath within us and draw a new breath. Remember our first Breath came from the L-rd G-d. Every breath since then has been His Gift us us. Each Breath is Representative of the L-rd G-d. We change our situation by changing our breath. We draw the fresh life giving breathing the Breath of the L-rd into us and holding it within us. We release His Breath. His Breath carries stresses and problems and issues from within us to outside of us. We clean our inner being with His Breath. We refresh our body with His Life Spirit Breath. We are trying to get in touch with our Spirit / Breath. We change our situation by drawing His Breath into us. We experience the source of life.
1. Discuss the Hebrew Praises of Praiseful Worship.
2. Define refreshing.
2. Discuss the benefit of refreshing.
May our Creator open our eyes more to Refreshing and to Prayerful Worship / Praise in Hebrew.
Blessings, Love and Peace,
