Limood

Bereisheit [Genesis] 14.1 - 24

Our Sages Teach that Malki Tzedek was Shem the son of Noach who survived the flood.  How do we know this?  This is discussed in the commentary of the Talmud, Nedarim 32b (9) and other ancient writings. Much of the commentary of the Talmud dates back to the Sages of the first Bet Ha Mikdosh to the Sages of the Great Assembly also known as the Great Sanhedrin.  Those Sages Novim {Prophets} and Scribes of Ha Tenach, what Christians refer to as the Old Testament.  Notable, 'Among them were many prophets, including Chaggai [Haggai] Zecharyah [Zechariah], Malachi, Daniel, Chananiah,  Mishael,  Azariah, Ezra, Nechemiah, Mordechai, and Zerubavel...  History of the Jewish People From Yavneh to Pumbedisa Mesorah Series, (Brooklyn, New York: Mesorah Publications, Ltd. 97th Impression, 2004) p 34

As a point of interest the Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego that steeped out of the fire were also known as Chananiah,  Mishael,  Azariah.  Daniel The Artscroll Tanach Series - Sefar Daniel  (Brooklyn, New York: Mesorah Publications, Ltd. First Edition 1979), pp x; 128,129  Also please notice Daniel 1.6,7.

Zechariah lived at the time of the destruction of the first Bet Ha Mikdosh {3338 F. C. } and at the time of the construction of the second Bet Ha Mikdosh.  Why is this significant?  That was 2,431 years ago, 5769 F. C.   - 3338 F. C.  = 2,431.  F. C. means From Creation.  I.e. that is from the creation as stated in Bereisheit 1, 2. The Talmud States that R' Zecharyah said in the name of R' Yishmael[ben Nethaniah]: Originally, the Holy One, Blessed is He, wished for the priesthood to emerge from the descendants of Shem, son of Noach, as it is stated in reference to Shem, 'and he was a priest of G-d, the most High...'  See Bereisheit 14.18

There are several important points to consider.

First, this is the Novie [Prophet] Zechariah who wrote Sefer Zecharyah of our Bible.

Second, he is credited by the Talmud of stating who Malki Tzedek is.  He stated that Malki Tzedek was Shem the son of Noach.  Even though Malki Tzedek's identity as Shem was common knowledge thousands of years ago that information could be lost down through the years so Zechariah stated it.

Third, in Judaism the information of Malki Tzedek has been passed from Teacher to student for thousands of years.  We did not loose sight of who Malki Tzedek was.

Fourth, there are different spellings for Mah Lih Cee Tzeh Dehk, Malki Tzedek, Malchizedek, Melchizedek and Melchisedec.  These are variations in translations.   In Ha Tenach there are two references to Malki Tzedek, Bereisheit 14.18 and Tehillim [Psalms] 110.4.  In the New Testament there are nine references,  Hebrews 5:6,10; 6:20; 7:1,10,11,15,17 and 21.

A series of serious differences surround Malki Tzedek. I feel that these differences exist due to a lack of historical knowledge and translation errors from Hebrew to English.  It may be possible to clear up issues by providing additional information.  Let's carefully examine the details. Let's examine Tehillim {Psalms} 110.4.

Tehillim 110.4

ˆh´àkoAhT...âa' µje%N:yI aOlèw" { hw:!hy" [Bæ¶v]nI

.qd<x≤âAyKil]m' yti%r:b]DIAl[' µl...-/[l]

English Translation:

Hashem Has Sworn and Will Not rescind [His Oath to Avraham] you are a Kohan {priest} [by dynasty] forever upon the word of Malki Tzedek.

1. Who is Tehillim 110.4 Making reference to? When did Hashem Swear this?

The first Word Tehillim 110.4 is [Bæ¶v]nI Nee Shih Bah, which means 'has sworn' has already taken place. Tehillim 110.4 is making reference to an event that happened between G-d, Malki Tzedek and Avraham in Bereisheit 14.18,19.  The root word of [Bæ¶v]nI Nee Shih Bah is [Bæ¶v] Shih Bah.  It is unusual for the Letter Nun to be added to the front of   [Bæ¶v] Shih Bah.   Placing the Letter Nun at the front of  [Bæ¶v] Shih Bah represents 'What G-d Has Sworn He Will Be Faithful to keep'.  In addition if a human swears it maybe before seven men.  When G-d Swears it is like this is before seventy men.   This shows our Creator's very strong commitment to keep His Oath.  For more information compare the Gematria of 422 for  [Bæ¶v]nI and the Gematria 422 for µy[ib]v Shee Vih Ee, meaning seventy.

The first time the Word  [Bæ¶v]nI Nee Shih Bah occurs in Ha Torah is in Bereisheit 24.7 where Avraham Says to Eleazer, 'Hashem, G-d of heaven, Who Took me from my father's house, and from the land of my birth, and Who Spoke to me and Who Swore to me...'  This was years after Bereisheit 14.18,19.   This is a challenging situation. Why?  The Action of  Hashem Swearing happened yet we do not have a pin pointed reference to where it happened or to when it happened.   We Observe the Promises of Hashem to Avraham in Bereisheit 12.2,3 yet there is no reference to Hashem Swearing.  Again in Bereisheit 13.14-17 we Observe the Promises of Hashem to Avraham, yet there is no reference to Hashem Swearing.

2. The Writer of Tehillim 110.4 Informs us that not only did Hashem swear to Avraham but Hashem Will Not rescind [His Oath to Avraham].  Hashem's Oath to Avraham is an eternal oath.

3. Then Hashem Says to Avraham, 'You are a Kohan {Priest} [by dynasty] forever.'  Now if one reads Bereisheit 14.18,19 these Words are not recorded there.  One must question, Where does the Writer of Tehillim 110.4 come up with these Words, 'You are a Kohan {Priest} forever.' ?  Tehillim 110.4 is the only place in all of Ha Tenach where these words are recorded.  Spoken of once in all of Ha Tenach.  As indicated earlier the New Testament mentions this four times.  We now have a second instance where Tehillim 110.4 makes a proclamation that we cannot pin point the reference.  Yet we know these Words, 'You are a Kohan {Priest} forever.' were Spoken by Hashem.

2 Samuel 8.18

 yti`rEK]h'w" [d:+y:/h∞y"AˆB, WŸhy:Ÿn:b]W

 dywIèd:AynEb]W yti-leP]h'w" yti`rEK]h'Al[' [d:+y:/h∞y"AˆB, WŸhy:Ÿn:b]W

 .Ël,M≤âh' dy"èl] µynI¡voarIh;

4. Define ˆheko Kohan.   ˆheko Kohan is singular for priest.  µynIhæKO Choh Nah Neem is plural for priests.  'The term kohen [priest] always means one who ministers to Deity except for in specific cases - such as [Bereisheit 41.45]: The ˆheko [chief] of On; and [Exodus 2.16] Jethro the ˆheko [chief] of Midian - where the term denotes one of high rank.' Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz and Rabbi Nosson Scherman, The Artscroll Tanach Series - Bereishis Vol. I(a) (Brooklyn, New York: Mesorah Publications, Ltd. 3rd Impression, 1989), p 495 Do we have precedence for this? Yes! 2 Samuel 8.18 Says, '...Dovid's sons were senior ministers.' Notice the Words in red above.  Notice the third Word, µynIhæKO Choh Nah Neem, meaning Priests. Yet here we translate this 'ministers'.  The KJV translates this  'Chief Rulers'.   The NIV says David's sons were royal advisors.  Interesting,  if one looks up 'chief' in the Strong's Concordance for 2 Samuel 8.18 it gives the reference # 3548.  Their they define ˆheko Kohan to include priest, chief ruler, prince, principle officer.  Then in 1 Chronicles 18.17 Ha Tenach uses a different Word to describe Dovid's sons, µynIvoarIh;

Haw Ree Shoh Neem, meaning the chief ministers.  KJV says, chief again.  NIV says,  chief officials.  This establishes that Kohan does not always mean priest.

5. Why is this important to prove that the Word ˆheko Kohan does NOT always mean priest?  When Tehillim 110.4 Speaks in reference to Avraham as being a Kohan [by dynasty] forever it is important to understand that Avraham's descendants were  Priests through Aharon ben Levi ben Yaakov and kings through Yehudah ben Yaakov.  G-d Willing we will discuss this later.

.qd<x≤âAyKil]m' yti%r:b]DIAl[' µl...-/[l]

6. Why do we say Avraham was a Kohan [by dynasty] forever?  It is because Avraham is the beginning of  a succession of people from the same family who play a prominent role as Kohanim {Priests}  and Melechim {Kings}.  On the second line of Hebrew above the first word is µl;wO[l] Lih Oh Lawm, meaning forever. When Hashem Says or Thinks Avraham is a Kohan forever that represents a dynasty.

7. Who spoke the Words, 'You are a Kohan [by dynasty] forever.' ?  Were they directly Spoken by Hashem?  Were they spoken through a Malach {Angel}?  Did a Novie {Prophet} speak these Words?  The answer is found in the last four Words of Tehillim 110.4.  '...upon the Word of Malki Tzedek.'  The Words, 'You are a Kohan [by dynasty] forever.'  were not spoken by anyone.  These were perceived!  They eminated from the Mind of Hashem.  Over 2,400 years ago The Novie Zechariah provides us with an explanation. This explanation is quoted in numerious books.  It is astounding that other religious have by in part ignored this.

''[The Prophet] Zechariah said on behalf of Rav Yishmael [ben Nethaniah] that the Holy One, Blessed is He, had intended that the priesthood should stem from Shem the son of Noah [who later assumed the title of Malchizedek.]  But after Malchizedek uttered this blessing, [G-d Decided] that the priesthood should stem from Abraham.  For when Malchizedek blessed Abraham before [G-d],  Abraham had rebuked Malchizedek: =[Saying]. 'Should a servant's blessing be given precedence over his Master's?'

Therefore, [G-d Gave] the priesthood to Abraham.  The [Words] of HASHEM... You shall be a priest forever because of the træB]dI Dee Bih Rawt, words of Malchizedek, who accorded Abraham precedence over Hashem.''  After Tehillim 110.4 Says, 'You are a Kohan [by dynasty] forever upon the Word of Malki Tzedek.'

Tehillim 110.4

.qd<x≤âAyKil]m' yti%r:b]DIAl[' µl...-/[l]

The Word l[æ Ahl means on, upon, by, on behalf of, on account of, because.  As discussed already the Word ytræB]dI Dee Bih Raw Tee means, 'Words'.  The point is that ytiræB]dIAl[æ Ahl - Dee Bih Raw Tee means 'upon the Words' of Malki Tzedek.   If one wanted to argue that the translation should be after the order of Malki Tzedek as is stated in the New Testament one must substantiate this position.  Uf one looks up the Word Order in Strong's Concordance for Psalms 110.4 the reference is

# 1700.  Strong's defines hr...b]DI Dee Vih Rawh as meaning, reason, suit or style, end, estate, order or regard.  The correct definition of  hr...b]DI Dee Vih Rawh is Word, cause or reason.  The Word hr...b]DI Dee Vih Rawh is found only three times in all of Ha Tenach. If one examines how the KJV translates hr...b]DI Dee Vih Rawh in Genesis 29.10 and 39.19 the translation is 'spoke'.  In 2 Kings 5.4 the translation is 'said'.   The Word ytræB]d" is found 79 times in Ha Tenach.  Genesis 24.33 told, 28.15; 41.28 spoken, Genesis 42.14 spake, Exodus 20.22 talked,  Exodus 25.22 commune, Numbers 11.17 talk, Numbers 14.35, Said, Numbers 23.26 told,  Numbers 24.12 speak, and Deuteronomy 33.3 Word.  We could go on.  The point is that ytiræB]d" Dee Bih Raw Tee does NOT mean order.  To argue that ytiræB]dIAl[æ Ahl - Dee Bih Raw Tee means after the order of Malki Tzedek ignores what the Prophet Zechariah, what was then common knowledge and what the correct definition of ytiræB]d" Dee Bih Raw Tee is. At the very least the Talmud Gives us a beginning and an ending of Malki Tzedek. He is not from an unknown priesthood.  Malki Tzedek. is not without a father or mother.  Noach was Malki Tzedek's father and Na'amah was his mother.

Bereisheit [Genesis] 13.1 - 18

The last four words of this Torah Limood are .hwO:hylæ jæBez"mi µv;Aˆb,yIwæ Vah Yee Vehn - Shawm - Meez Bat Ach - Lah  Hashem { And [Avram] build there an Altar to Hashem}.  In Bereisheit 12.4 Ha Torah States,  'And He, Avram, went rv,a}Kæ Cah Ah Shehr like that Word told him by Hashem...'  What was it that Avram did?

Bereisheit 12.1-He went away from his birth place... Bereisheit 12.4 He left Charan...  Bereisheit 12.5 He set out for the land of Canaan...  He came to the land of Canaan... Avram travel through the land of Canaan until he reached Shechem until the plain of Moreh [Teacher]...

Bereisheit 12.7 He built an altar there. Hashem Appeared [Spiritually to him there]...

Bereisheit 12.8 Avram continued to the mountain just east of Bet El.  He set up a tent.  He built an altar.  He proclaimed the Name of Hashem.

Bereisheit 12.9  Avram journeyed southward...

Bereisheit 12.10 Because of famine Avram went dr<yIwæ Vah Yee Rehd down to Mitzriam...  We could say he got a little off the path because Ha Torah Says He went down to Mitzriam. Later when Avram exits Mitzriam Ha Torah Says, Avram went up from Mitzriam...

Bereisheit 13. 2 Avram was very wealthy...

Bereisheit 13.3 Avram continued on his travels to Bet El until the place hy:h;Arv,a} Ah Shehr - Haw Yawh {that it happened} there he set his tent where it began between Bet El and Ai.

Bereisheit 13.4 To the Place of the altar that he made there first and there he called on the Name of Hashem.

Bereisheit 13.17 Avram set up his tent.  Avram Settled.  Avram built an altar to Hashem.  .hwO:hylæ jæBez"mi µv;Aˆb,yIwæ Vah Yee Vehn - Shawm - Meez Bat Ach - Lah  Hashem { And [Avram] build there an Altar to Hashem}.

521 = r200 v300 a1 a1 k20

521 = h5 y10 h5 -  r200 v300 a1

521 = h5 w6 h5 y10 l30 -  j8 b2 z7 m40 -  µ40 v300 -  ˆ50 b2 y 10 w6

Notice the acronyms - Two words are formed from the first letters of .hwO:hylæ jæBez"mi µv;Aˆb,yIw  ymi - Mee anyone, he who whoever  vyE - Yaysh meaning existence.  This says that the place of existence for anyone is the place Avraham built an Alter to Hashem and proclaimed His Name...

Dear Ones when we go down to Mitzriam pray that we will rise up out of Mitzriam as Avram did.

G-d Willing we will return to the place that we first placed our tent which was near to the Altar of Hashem where we proclaimed the Name of Hashem.

The Name of Avram's Wife was Sarai

The Wealth of What Names Tell Us ©

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

Our Devri Torah is in the loving Memory of Mrs. Ethel Channah Sakash Belk, Mr. George Belk, Mr. Donald Wayne Belk and Mr. Gary Lee Belk and Mr. Arnold Student Litman may they rest in peace.

Limood Bereisheit 11

Bereisheit [Genesis] 11

Bereisheit 11.29 And Avram and Nachor took themselves wives.  The wife of Avram was Sarai...

The word tv,ae Ay Sheht meaning wife is interesting.  Ay Sheht has the Gematria of 701. Other words that share the Gematria 701 are:

 taec] Sih Ayt meaning elevation, majesty, dignity, strength and vigor.

ytirEp]hiw" Vih Hee Pih Ray Tee meaning And I [Elokim] Will Make you [Sarah] fruitful.

 µykia;l]mæ {Gematria Miluy Gadol} Mahl Aw Cheem meaning Angel, Messenger, Delegate, prophet.

701 = t400 v300 a1

701 = t400 a1 c300

701 = y10 t400 r200 p80 h5 w6

{Gematria Miluy Gadol}

701 = µ600 y10 k20 a1 l30 m40

So when Ha Torah Says 'The Name of Avram's Wife was Sarai' its real important to note that the name  tv,ae Ay Sheht Mystically Teaches that a wife is to be elevated by her husband.  A wife is to be treated with dignity.  Ones wife is worthy of honor and respect.  Why? Ha Torah Says, 'The Name of Avram's Wife was Sarai'.  Is the emphasis on Avram's wife's name is Sarai?  Or is the emphasis on Sarai is Avram's wife?  One could make an argument for both positions.   Notice the order of the words at the top of the page.  They are: Name Wife Avram Sarai.  The name wife comes first.  Why?  The name wife describes a position.  The name Sarai describes a person.  We observe the same pattern of words with Adam Ha Reshon.  Notice Bereisheit 2.20

 .yj...âAlK; µa´à ht...`y"h...â awhià yKiö hW:-j' /T¡v]ai µv´à µd:üa;h...â ar:éq"YIw"

The third word from the right is Shaym meaning name.

The fourth word from the right is Eesh Toh meaning wife.

The fifth word from the right is Chah Vah meaning Eve or mother of all living.

So while Ha Torah's purpose is to introduce Sarai as Avram's wife in actuality Ha Torah is Saying the wife of Avram is Sarai!  So the name wife takes precedence over the wife's name.  In other words the actions of what describes a wife's position is more important.

In Bereisheit 2.23 Adam Reshon calls Chavah hv;ai Ee Shaw meaning Woman or Wife.  hv;ai Ee Shaw is the root word for  tv,ae Ay Sheht meaning wife.  Our Sages Teach that the Letters a Aleph and [ Ayin maybe interchanged.  If we were to change the Aleph in hv;ai Ee Shaw to an Ayin the word would be spelled hc;[; Aw Saw meaning to make, to work, to labor, to act, to prepare, to produce, to yield, to create, to perform, to accomplish, to cause, to effect, to bring about, to execute, to appoint, to keep, to fulfill, to acquire to manage etc.  So by simply changing the Letter Aleph with an Ayin we see the fulfillment of  Proverbs 31.10- 31.

Epilogue: The Noble Wife of Good Character

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.  She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom,

and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears Hashem is to be praised.

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

The Letter Aleph reminds us of G-d our Creator in our wife.  The Letter Ayin reminds us of all the things we see her accomplish for our good.  Thank G-d for giving men wonderful wives!!

When we interchange the Letter Aleph with the Letter Ayin in tv,ae Ay Sheht we get tv,[, Eh Sheht meaning to grow stout or bar of steel or strength of steel.  The point is that the Letter Ayin represent eyesight.  It is so important for the husband to recognize his wifes strength's her contributions, her labors and all that she does to make the husband wife relations so wonderful.  When man views the relationship with the Letter Aleph he views the relationship with judgment.  When the man views the relationship with the Letter Ayin he views the relationship with eyesight with perception with appreciation for the many many contributions of his wife.

May Hashem Bless each wife with her husband's who deep appreciate for her contribution to their marriage.  May Hashem strengthen each husband wife relationship with love and compassion and much appreciation!

Blessings and peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel

Bereisheit 7.11

In Year six Hundred of Noach's years of life in the second month in the seventeenth day of the month in this day all the fountains of the deep burst forth [volcanic lava] and the windows of heaven were opened [torrential down pour].

Using the Gregorian Calendar as a point of reference the flood date for 2008 would have begun on 11-15-08 or last Shabbat, Parshat Vayeira.

Bereisheit 7.12

And the water was upon the earth for forty days and forth nights... [17] ...and the waters increased and lifted up the Tava and it rose above the earth. [18] The waters were powerful and increased greatly on the earth. [19] ...[the waters] covered all the highest mountains [peaks].  [20] ...by up to 30 feet. [21] All flesh that moves on earth  perished; in birds and in animals  and in beasts and in all creeping creatures upon the earth and all humans.  [22] Everything that had with nostrils with a souls breath of life, from all on dry land died.  [23] Every living substance was on the face of the ground was obliterated...and only the remnant [of the earth] Noach and those with him in the Tava survived.

Bereisheit 7.24 And the waters prevailed on the earth for one hundred fifty days.

Bereisheit 8.1

Hashem Remembered everything from Aleph to Tav of  Noach and all the life and all the animals that were with him in the [Holy] Tavah. And G-d, He Caused Spirit on the earth and the waters subsided. [2] The fountains of the deep [volcanic lava] were closed and the windows of the Heaven [torrential down pour].  [3] The waters receded continually from earth.  The waters were diminished at the end of one hundred fifty days.

Bereisheit 8.4

The [Holy] Tavah rested in the seventh month on the seventeenth day of the month on the mountains of Ararat.

The flood began in the second month the seventh day.

2nd Month 13 Days remaining days

3rd Month  30 Days

4th Month  30 Days - There were 30 days on this month.  5769 has only 29

5th Month  30 Days

6th Month  30 Days - There were 30 days on this month.  5769 has only 29

7th Month  17 Days beginning days

_______________

Total Days   150 Days =

The [Holy] Tavah Rested in the Mountains of Ararat in the seventh month on the seventeenth day of the month.  This was 04-11-2009 of the Gregorian Calendar.

Bereisheit 8.5 The waters continuously diminished until the tenth month. In the tenth month the mountain peaks became visible.

The 30 feet of water depth that covered the highest peaks on earth and all land had diminished.  These means Mount Everest in Asia at 8848 meters / 29,028 feet and Mount Aconcagua Mendoza in South America at 6962 meters / 22, 841 feet and Mount McKinley in North America at 6194 meters / 20,320 feet and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa at 5895 meters/feet and Mt Elbrus in Europe at 5642 meters / 18,506 feet and Mount Vinson in Antartica at 4892 meters / 16, 050 feet and possible even Mount Evans at 434 7 Meters / 14,264 feet in Colorado in the United States became visible. How do we know this?

Mount Ararat is 5165 meters / 16,946 feet. The waters had diminished from nine meters / thirty feet ABOVE Mount Everest 8843 meters / 29.028 feet to the point where the mountain peaks in the area of Mount Ararat could be seen.   Do the math.

Highest point of the waters was 8843 meters {Mt Everest} PLUS an additional 9 meters = 8852 meters.

Highest point of the waters was 29,028 feet {Mt Everest} PLUS an additional 30 feet = 29,058 feet.

The mountain peaks around Mount Ararat became visible in the tenth month. Again Mount Ararat is 5165 meters / 16,946 feet.  The waters diminished from 8852 meters to below 5165 meters.  The waters diminished more than 3690 meters by the tenth month and by more than 12,112 feet. WOW!

From the time of the seventh month the seventeenth day until the tenth month the twenty-seventh day the [Holy] Tavah rested 99 days. This began a period of 40 days plus 7 days plus 7 days and plus 7 days which led up to the day of judgment, Rosh HaShanah.  The 40 days began on the eve of  07-19-09 of the Gregorian Calendar, which is the [27th day 11th month of 5769 FC.

The 40th day ended on 08-28-09 of Gregorian Calendar, which is the 9th day of the 12th month of 5769 FC.  There are several key words found in Bereisheit 8.6.  Ha Torah Says, 'at the end of forty days'.  When does the day end?  The day ends with night fall.  It was at the end of forty days that the raven was sent out.  This was Erev Shabbat.

Seven days later on the 16th day of the 12th month the dove was sent out.  The dove returned. This was Erev Shabbat.

Seven days later on the 23rd day of the 12th month the dove was sent out a second time.  The dove returned in the evening. This was Erev Shabbat.

Seven days later on the 1st day of the new year 1657 FC which begins at evening which is the first day of the seventh month the dove was sent out and did not return. This was Erev Shabbat.  This was Erev Rosh HaShanah of 1657 F.C.

Another key series of words are found in Bereisheit 8.11.   The dove came back at evening.

Bereisheit 8.6

And it was after 40 days Noach opened the window of the Tavah which he made.  [7] He sent out a raven...

This was on the eve of  08-29-09

[5769 FC]

Bereisheit 8.7

[Seven days later] He sent the dove to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground.  [9] The dove found no rest for her foot so she returned to the Tavah...

This was on the eve of  09-04-09 [5769]

Bereisheit 8.10

[Noach ] waited another seven days and again sent the dove out of the [Holy] Tavah. [9] The dove came to him toward evening and behold, there was a tore olive leaf in her mount.  Noach knew then that the waters had diminished from the earth.

The olive leaf was a sign to Noach that peace had returned to the world just seven day before Rosh Hashanah which was the first judgment after the flood.

Bereisheit 8.12

[Noach] waited another seven days and sent out the dove. [The dove] did not return to him again.

Bereisheit 8.13

And it happened in the six-hundredth first year in the first month on [day] one that the waters from upon the earth had dried.  Noach removed the covering of the [Holy] Tavah.  He looked out and behold the face of the earth had dried.

This is Rosh HaShanah - The day of Judgment for the entire world.

Bereisheit 8.14

In the second month on the twenty-seventh day of the month the earth was dry.

Bereisheit 8.15

G-d Spoke to Noach, Saying, [16] Depart from the Tavah...

Blessings and peace,

Limood 7

 Bereisheit [Genesis] 7.1 24

Our Devri Torah Limood is in the loving Memory of Leann Daniel, Kathleen Travis, Mary Ila Warren, Cloyd Burke, may they rest in peace.

Dear ones we are going to look at Bereisheit 7.16 and Bereisheit 36.6.  Please notice the last three words of Bereisheit 7.16:

Wd"[æBæ    h    y  h   w   rGOos]yiwæ

Vah Yees  Gohr - Hashem - Bah Ahd Voo

He, Hashem Enclosed [them] and sealed [them in the tavah]...  They were especially protected.  Notice why? Those that came were male and female from among all flesh they came LIKE Elokim Commanded [Noach], then He, Hashem enclosed [them] and sealed [them in the tavah]...

The first word, Vah Yees  Gohr  means He Enclosed them!

The third word Bah Ahd Voo  means Hashem Stood in front of the Tavah door.  He Sealed them in!   Then Hashem placed wild animals like bears surrounding the Tavah to prevent them the evil beings from boarding the Tavah or destroying it. Sefer HaYashar (Hoboken, NJ: KTAV Publishing House, Inc., 1993) p.19

They came like G-d Commanded Noach.  They came in pairs one male and one female.  Sometimes we want to do things our own way.  That will not work if G-d Has Not Commanded it!

They benefited from observing the Command of G-d.

They were shut in the Tavah.

They were sealed in the Tavah.

In Bereisheit 36.6 we read,

Eisov took his wives, his sons, his daughters, all the people of his household, his livestock, all his animals and all his possessions that he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he went to a land away from his brother, Yaakov.

Again notice the last three words in Ha Torah:

wyjia; bqoøO[æyæ ynEP]mi

Mee Pih Nay - Yaakov - Aw Cheev

...away from the face of Yaakov his brother.  Eisov represented a threat to Yaakov so our Creator Sent him away to protect Yaakov and his relatives.

We have two interesting phrases here that have similarities.

387 = w6 d4 [70 b2    h5    y10  h5   w6    r200 g3 s60 y10 w6

387 =  w6y10 j8 a1  b2 q100 [70 y10   y10 n50 p80 m40

In one instant Noach is Commanded By G-d to bring all the animals into the Tavah.  Noach did this.

In the other instant Eisov is sent away with all his animals and relatives etc.

Both of these phrases are a Gematria of 387.   Both have a Letter which is representative of the circle of life, the Mem [m] and the Samech [s] .  Both have a visual Letter in Ayin [[].  Vah Yees  Gohr - Hashem - Bah Ahd Voo Has the Letter [w] Vav 3 times which equals 18 [yj] life.  Hashem Enclosed them and Sealed them for life!  Each word has a Vav.

18 = w6 d[b    h    y  h   w6    rgsyw6

Mee Pih Nay - Yaakov - Aw Cheev Has the Letter [y] Yud 3 times.  Eisov was very powerful.  He and his family were feared.  Why would he have left Eretz Canaan after living their for over a hundred years.  It was because Hashem Sent him away from the face of his brother, Yaakov!  Each Word has a Yud!

30 =  wy10 ja  bq[y10   y10 npm

So in our discussion we observe several was that our Creator protects us from those that would hurt us.

Blessings and peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel

This Divrei Torah is offered in the loving memory of Rabbi Yehosuah Gutman and Yehosuah Goodman, may they rest in peace.

Bereisheit [Genesis] 6.14 Make, Construct, Build, Design, Assemble for yourself an Ark of Ceder Wood.

Build this Tavah [Box, Chest, Case] for yourself but invite others to join you.  What is the message?

Consider the cost of the Ark.  How would Noach pay for such an expensive project?  Where would he get the resources? Consider the design, the architectural skills required.  Had anyone built an ark before? What technical skills would be required for designing and constructing buildings the ark?  Think of the knowledge and skill required to build the ark.  How would Noach test the competency of the Ark?  After the ark was constructed what about navigating the ark

The Midrash Says that Noach began 120 years before the flood by planting trees.  He had to grow the trees to specific heights.  Noach would have to plant the trees and harvest them at the appropriate times.  How would he know how to do this?

I cannot imagine.  Building a Sukkah does me in for several weeks.

At the top are two words Tay Vaht  in blue type and Tay Vawh in red type.  It is interesting that the introduction to the Tavah has a Tav in the beginning and at the End of the word.  The Letter Tav symbolizes Truth and Perfection.  The Letter Tav is often used to represent SIGN when attached to the beginning of a letter.  The center Letter Bet represents blessings, creation and duality or plurality.  So, it is interesting that the Letter Bet has the Letters Tav before and after.  It is also interesting to note that the animals etc. that were not clean came in two's, a male with a female.

During the period of time that the evil in the world were perishing, being drowned by water and being sweep away within the Tavah were the blessed!  The blessed were surrounded by perfection with a Tav on each side. The Letter Bet means house.  So lodged between each Tav was the house that housed the living, purified beings of the world.   They were the blessed!  What did they do to be selected to be among thoughts chosen to repopulate the earth?

This was a dark time for most of the world.  The world had to be cleansed by water.  The world had to be immersed in a mikvah so to speak.   Yet there was light in the Tavah.  Noach was Instructed to place a Precious Stone in the top of the Tavah.  Light would emanate from this stone throughout the Tavah.  So when there was darkness all around there was light coming from this precious stone.

rhæxo Tzoh Har means window, skylight and brightness, To be bright... To be clear...

I take this to mean that within the Tavah there was brightness and clarity.  There was no confusion.  Everyone had to look to the top of the Tavah for brightness and Clarity, i.e. to the precious stone, to Hashem!

This is a reminder that we should be careful to surround ourselves with purity.  We are the House... we are the Temple... We always need brightness and clarity. We should look up to Hashem, our Precious Stone.  There is a key word here.  It is the second word.

hc,[æTæ Tah Ah Seh means for us to MAKE a place in our Bet, our house for brightness for clarity.  It is our responsibility to make a place for the precious stone.

Blessings and peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel
