Introduction - The Sign

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

Dear Ones

EVERYONE is welcome to take this course of study about Gematria.. Christians are welcome. B'nai Noachides [Children of Noah] are welcome.  Spiritualists are welcome. B'nai Yisroel [the Children of Israel / Jews] are welcome. EVERYONE is welcome.

Dear One's our goal is to study the 10 Chapters of Genesis from Adam to Terach Abraham's father.

Here, in our introduction we discuss the relationship of the Gematria 406. We focus on the relationship of how the world needs a sign.  The world is always looking for a sign. Well, dear ones we learn from the Gematria 406 that with holiness, or through holiness or in holiness we can be that sign. How?  One of the important meanings of Holiness is 'separation'. When we separate from things that are not holy the world notices. When we separate our language to be pure and clean the world notices. When we separate our selves to good works of caring for others, showing tenderness, mercy and lovingkindness the world notices. Thus through our actions we become a sign.

Signs tell us to stop and to go. Signs caution us. Signs direct us. We can do all of these things if we are willing to be the sign.

On the front cover of this book there are three Hebrew Letters that say, Ha Oat, meaning  'The Sign.'  I hope that you will listen to the audio and consider joining us in our discovery of Gematria Revelations in Genesis. Gematria offers special sweetness around the Sabbath Table.

Chapter 1 - Receiving Pleasure and Enjoying Life 1
By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

Audio Discussions:

Dear Ones in this course entitled: Gematria And Mysticism IN GENESIS allows you to study at your own speed. We begin in Genesis 1.1 and continue through Genesis 10.32.

Our goal is to bring peace and tranquility into our lives as we study the Torah and the Bible together.

Our goal is to explore well defined Spiritual avenues within Spirituality that when practiced in one's life and home have the power to calm one's being, to bring joy and tranquility without costing a lot of money time and energy.

We discuss the the starting place for those that want to receive pleasure and for those that want to enjoy life. We did not discuss the participation of one spouse or family so it is necessary to share a few points. A husband or a wife may greatly desire a holy place within their home yet he / she cannot have this with out the cooperation of one's spouse. The contribution of one's mate must never be legislated it must be by choice. Please read the Dedication of this book. Rabbi Akiva could never have reached or enjoyed the place of calmness or tranquilty with out the full support and backing of his lovely wife. Dear Ones, The Rebbetzin is the backbone of the Spirituality within our home. She chooses for our home to be a Spiritual place or it would NEVER happen. I cannot begin to calcuate all the things the Rebbetzin does to allow me to enjoy a Spiritual place.

Our goal is to travel the path that can bring us to high levels of Spirituality.

Our goal is to learn and to use tools that will strengthen the rightousness within us.

May our Creator Bless us as we learn how to have pleasure and to enjoy life.

Blessings, Love and Peace,

Dr. Akiva Gamliel

Lesson 3

What is the Relationship

of The Torah To the Bible?

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

Dear Ones in this discussion we examine the Lord's eternal plan as set forth in The Torah. We learn about how light flows  through the revelation of The 613 Commands of The Torah. We observe how the flow of water from the Garden of Eden is like The Torah flowing out to the other Books of The Bible.

Audio Discussion:

What is the Torah Relationship to The bible?

Please read Chapter 1 in the Textbook: Gematria And Mysticism In GENESIS.

We begin on page 27 of our textbook Gematria And Mysticism IN GENESIS with a dialogue on the pleasure we receive from enlightenment. Psalms 119.105 says,

נֵר־לְרַגְלִי דְבָרֶךָ וְאוֹר לִנְתִיבָתִי1:1

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

The Word Ohr in Genesis 1.3,4 is the same as in Psalms 119.105.

However there are some distinctions. One distinction is the Word

דְבָרֶךָ Dih Vaw Reh Caw meaning 'Your Word'. The only place in the entire Bible where we know every word was spoken by The Lord is in The Torah. So as a result we know that the term 'Your Word' in Psalms 119.105 is in direct reference to The Torah. This is in reference to both the Oral Torah and the Written Torah.

In our audio we discussion the pleasure we receive from enlightenment. The enlightenment we receive flows from The Torah. We talk about the order of the Letter and how they point to God as First and only source of enlightenment.

We explain that the Words אֶת־הָאוֹר Eht Ha Ohr mean more than everything from the Letter Aleph to the Letter Tav. They speak of the method by which God Revealed His Light through the Torah. Eht Ha Ohr is the Gematria of 613. In The Torah God Reveals 613 Commands that all Creation is to follow. The textbook discusses this in greater detail. All the Bible flows from the 613 Commands of the Torah. Nothing exists without The Torah. The 613 Commands tells us what G-d Wants from us. They tell us what our Creator expects.

Why is this so pleasurable? The Torah teaches us about sin. When we stumble and sin we know exactly what we need to do to to return to a whole relationship with our Creator. In the Torah we learn that G-d Told Cain all he had to do to return was to a correct his relationship, was to improve. G-d Willing, we will discuss this in detail in chapter four.

Dear Ones we learn through the revelation of the Torah how to improve. When we stumble and sin we go away from G--d. When we do Teshuvah we return to G-d. We return by acknowledging what our sin was and by making a plan not to repeat our sin. We should also be willing to pay restitution for any damages our sin caused. When we learn how G-d deals with sin we receive pleasure. We feel a closeness to G-d. We feel G-d's love for us. We don't worry about the hell other religions use to frighten and preach people into submission. As we will learn later God's Way is easy to follow. It's simple, 'improve'.

Questions to consider. Those desiring credit for this course PLEASE write answers in the blog. Individuals who do not do homework and answer questions will not receive credit for completing this course. It is OK to learn with us without doing the questions. Yet a donation is still required.

Seven Commands

Govern The Entire Universe

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

:Audio Discussion

Dear Ones we are not going to go into the specifics of the textbook: Gematria And Mysticism IN GENESIS or the audios.

In brief we discuss the concept of Commands One and Two and how they related to Adam and Eve then and us today.

We know Adam and Eve disobeyed God.  We know they sinned. We take a careful look at how they were restored to a place of honor. We also consider how one returns to God after sinning. The Lord's Plan of redemption differs greatly from what many are taught religions.

Adam and Eve had a problem that was greater than stealing the forbidden fruit. As leaders of this world they failed. Failure at the top like this has the potential of tossing the entire world into chaos.  Consider how Adam and Eve could demand the natural world of animals, birds, fish etc. to come when they were summonsed, i.e. to obey what the Creator Established when they failed to obey what the Creator established?

We visit these issues and others in this class.

1. 7 Commands Given by our Creator govern the entire world.

  T ___  F___

2. Anyone that Observes the Seven Commands will enter Heaven upon leaving this life. T___ F___

3. Mystically speaking do you see the relationship of God as being and as Being In Charges? Discuss the mystical connection.

4. How does the Creator Establish Adam and Eve as being in Charge?

5. Discuss the Torah concept of being summoned? Compare the summon of Adam with the Summon of the Creator.

Audio Discussion:

The Holiness Of The Name Of The Lord God

Idolatry Is Prohibited

Caring For The Holy Name

Dear Ones stop for a minute and think about the Holiness of G-d's Name. Do any of us really understand what it means to be holy. Do any of us think we can understand the degree to which G-d's Name is Holy? We may think we can perceive the Holiness of G-d's Name but we cannot.  We can understand concepts that assist us in formulating some awareness of what holiness maybe, yet for the most part we do not know what Holiness is.

Try to imagine this. For a short time let's imagine that our Creator's Holiness is like a quarter of a degree measuring point on a 360 degree circle.  This would mean there would be 1,440 quarter degree marks. Now image that the circle is entirely black.  Imagine that you are going to draw a white line straight to the edge of the circle.  Our Sages Call this Tzimtzum, Aryeh Kaplan The Bahir ( Lanham, Maryland, Rowman & Littlefield Publishers) 1st edition, 2004 p xxii.

Our Sages Say this is somewhat like what our Creator did. The circle is like the universe. The white line is like our Creator who withdrew this tiny portion of himself from the entire circle.  The white line is like 1/1440th part of the circle. Everything within our universe functions within this tiny area.  Our Creator Withdrew a huge portion of himself from this area.  Why was it necessary for our Creator to withdraw Himself?  Our Creator's Presence is so Holy that no one could survive.  It is like our Creator greatly reduced Himself in this area so we can live and function.

Dear Ones what we know about the Holiness of Our Creator's Name is many levels and multiply greatness's above our ability to know.  Having said this, we have a specific teaching at B'nai Noach Torah Institute, LLC, that we try to Observe to honor our Creator's Holy Name on a level we can understand.  It takes real work to honor the Creator's Holy Name.  Here are a few mundane examples.

We wear a covering on our head when we say a Brachah / a Blessing in which we say the Creator's Name. Our Sages Teach that a hat or scarf used to cover one's head is a form of humility. Why?  To answer this question, I must explain that our Sages assign Ten Emanations to our Creator. One of the emanations is Keter, meaning crown.  Keter is representative of the Mind of G-d.  Our head is the Keter to our body. We were created sinless. So what happens when we sin?  Our body needs a covering because G-d's Presence which covered us departed.  Was our sin intellectual reasoning to a degree?  We listened to the serpent. We listened to the serpent's reasoning.  We made an intellectual choice that resulted in sinning. Why would humans eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and evil? The point is that G-d who did not sin does not need a covering for the Keter.  However we who are human need a covering for our Keter.  We intellectually sin. We need to cover our Keter.  We need to be humble. A holy person covers their Keter. A holy person does not speak the Creator's Name without a covering for their head.

In the morning we rinse our mouth out before we speak the Creator's Name in a Blessing. We try to wash out the unpleasant taste in our mouth.  Why? The Creator is Holy. Our mouth is not holy.  James wrote,  No man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly, evil, and full of deadly poison. With our tongue we bless our Creator, and with our tongue we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of G-d. So how is it that out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing... Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh, James 3:8-12.

We separate our upper body from our lower body with a gartel, a belt, elastic. Why?  We separate our lower body from our upper body because we release excrements from the lower body.

We do not repeat the Holy Name in a place that is unclean like a bathroom . In fact, we do not actually say the Holy Name. We build fences around the Holy Name. We say Adoni [Master] in prayer in place of the Holy Name.  We say HaShem in place of Adoni in daily use. Only the Kohen Gadol actually says the Holy Name on Yom Kippur. When we write the Holy Name we place a dash to alter the spelling of the Holy Name so that the Holy Name is altered. We alter the Holy Name so if an individual is careless they will not be guilty of disrespecting the Holy Name.   If one were to make a mistake while using the Creator's Name while saying a Blessing they would say, Brauch Shame Kovod Mal Choo To Lil Oh Lam Vih Ed.

We do not place any book on top of a Chumash?  The Chumash houses the Holy Name in print.  If we were to drop the Chumash or a Siddur, G-d Forbid, we would pick it up and kiss it.  Why? Because everything about our Creator is extremely Holy. We take all these precautions and many more because the Creator's Name is Holy.

Now, can anyone image the sinful act of blaspheming the Holy Name?

This is also why we do not say unkind words.  We try to keep our mouth holy and pure. This is why hateful and offensive speech is not wise. This is why cursing is vile. This is why cussing is a bad thing to do. It is so important for us to keep our mouth holy!  We are not to speak anything derogatory about others even when it's true. Rabbi Zelig Pliskin, Guard Your Tongue, (Brooklyn, New York, 1975) p 29

Dear Ones what is it like if we treat a Holy Book like any other book?  In your eyes, would that be like treating the Holy Name as if it were common?

The Christian Testament writers note several rants that Jesus went on where he called Holy Men and Men in Holy positions horrible names.  I cannot tell you how forbidden this is. Even if every word Jesus said were true about these men IT WOULD STILL BE FORBIDDEN!!  Saying something vile about another person is a sin!  This is termed loshon hora. Rabbi A. Y. Kahan The Taryag Mitzvot (Brooklyn, N.Y. Keser Torah Publications  1987, 1988) p 155

Consider Matthew 23.

Matthew 23

New King James Version (NKJV)

Woe to the Scribes and Pharisees

23 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe,[a] that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.' But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ,[b] and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

13 "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. 14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.[c]

15 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

16 "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.' 17 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies[d] the gold? 18 And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged to perform it.' 19 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it. 21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells[e] in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it.

23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 24 Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!

25 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.[f] 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.

27 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

29 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.'

31 "Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers' guilt. 33 Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? 34 Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, 35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

We continue our discussion  with the second audio, Idolatry Is Prohibited!

Dear Ones this is sinning with the mouth. We must be careful not to say horrible things even if they may be true.  It is sin!!

In our second Audio we discuss how humankind began to call idols gods. Idolatry began after the birth of Enosh.

אֱנוֹשׁ means severe, serious, mortal, man, human,

Bereisheit 4.25,26

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Seth; For God, said she, has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh; then began men to call idols by  the Lord's Name.

We could say it like this:

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name 357; then began men to call idols by the Lord's Name.

In Bereisheit 28.11 we read of Yaakov / Jacob reaching the place. Ha Torah Says,

And he reached a certain place, and remained there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

אֱנוֹשׁ /Enosh

א1 נ50 ו6 ש300 = 357

וַיִּפְגַּע בַּמָּקוֹם / He Reached a certain Place

ו6 י10 פ80 ג3 ע70   ב2 מ40 ק100 ו6 ם40 =357

Mystically Enosh is a marker. Just as when Yaakov reached a certain place Enosh reached a certain place. Ha Torah uses this place Enosh reached as a chronological marker to when idolatry began.

Bereisheit 5.3

And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth;

Bereisheit 5.6

And Seth lived a hundred and five years, and fathered Enosh;

When we add the periods of time of 130 years and of 105 years we arrive at 235 years From Creation when idolatry began. This is significant. Mystically we learn the outcome of idolatries. The end is destruction!

Bereisheit 6.13

And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh has come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

המקץ / The end of

ה5 מ40 ק100 ץ90 = 235

We learn that when idolatry began that it was the end for those who were idolatrous.

In Bereisheit 8.3 HaTorah Says, 'After the end'. referring to after the destruction of the world.  It was after the destruction of the idolaters.

After the end

מ40 ק100 צ90 ה5 = 235

Worship belongs to the Creator. Our adoration is for the Creator.  Our devotion, our praise our exaltation is for the Creator.  How do we know this?  Tehilim / Psalms 150.1 Says,

 1:  1הַלְלוּיָהּ ׀ הַלְלוּ־אֵל בְּקָדְשׁוֹ הַלְלוּהוּ בִּרְקִיעַ עֻזּוֹ

Hallelujah! Sing to the Lord a new song, and his praise is sounded in the congregation of the pious.

 הַלְלוּיָהּ Praise The Lord

ה5 ל30 ל30 ו6 י1- ה5 = 86

הַלְלוּיָהּ ׀ הַלְלוּ עַבְדֵי יְהֹוָה הַלְלוּ אֶת־שֵׁם יְהֹוָה

Hallelujah! Praise, O you servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.

Dear Ones it is our 'SERVICE' to praise the Lord. We were created to praise the Lord.  Let them praise the name of the Lord; for he Commanded, and they were created, Tehilim 148.5.

Our point is that the Lord God is to be Praise and no other.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever, Tehilim 30.12,13.

Whoever offers praise glorifies me; and to him who orders his way [conversation] a right I will show the salvation of God, Tehilim 50.23.

You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, I will exalt you. O give thanks to the Lord; for he is good; for his loving kindness endures for ever, Tehilim 118.28,29.

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the lyre to our God; Tehilim 147.7.

Dear Ones we were Created to offer Praise to The Lord God. If we take our praise and offer it to another that is stealing. If we withhold our praise that is also stealing.  So as we have disgusted it is so important to keep our conversation pure so we can offer the Holy Praises to The Lord God.

May our Creator Bless us with a strong desire to worship Him and encourage us to offer Praiseful Worship to him.

Seven Commands

Do Not Murder!

By Dr. Akiva Gamliel Belk

B'nai Noach Torah Institute, LLC

Textbook: Gematria And Mysticism IN GENESIS

Audio Discussions - Do Not Murder

Another course we offer at B'nai Noach Torah Institute, LLC is entitled Mysterious SIGNS Of The Torah Revealed IN GENESIS.  In this course we discuss Offering in the Bible.  We are going to make that lesson available here because it covers important material pertaining to this course.

Offering Of Ha Torah

Bereisheit / Genesis 2.16

Within the Name Ha Adam is the Word Dom / blood. This is a caution not to shed blood.

Some teach that Abel brought an Animal Sacrifice in Genesis 4.4. In another course entitled Mysterious SIGNS Of The Torah Revealed IN GENESIS I go into this in. There I explain that the name for a meat offering is OhLam.  The Words used in regards to Cain and Abel is Minchah and Minchato in Genesis 4. These Words mean they offered something other than a meat offering. The first time a meat / animal offering is offered the Word Oh Lot is used. This was in Genesis 9 when Noach clearly offered animal sacrifices.  This was the first time animal sacrifices were offered.

Midrash Tanchuma says that Hevel offered the finest wool and cream from the best of the first born of his flocks. Metsudah Midrash Avrohom Davis, Metsudah Midrash Tanchuma Bereishis 1 (Monsey, NY Eastern Book Press Inc. 2005) p50

R' Yosef Kimchi; Tur said that they did not build an altar because they were prohibited from slaughtering animals. Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz and Rabbi Nosson Scherman, The Artscroll Tanach Series - Bereishis Vol. I (b) (Brooklyn, New York: Mesorah Publications, Ltd. 3rd Impression, 1989), p 145

Why? How is this?

Dear Ones our Creator prohibited humankind from murder and killing. Our Creator prohibited animals from murder.

Genesis 1.29,30 says,

And God said, [to the Adam] Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, on which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food. [And God said, to the Animals] And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to every thing that creeps upon the earth, where there is life, I have given every green herb for food; and it was so.

The Stone Chumash says, 'At this time it was forbidden to kill animals for forbidden.'

Chapter 4

Being Scattered Among The Nations

Discussion Questions

Dr. Akiva Gamliel listed reasons why we do not spill blood. Discuss each of these reasons.

1. Genesis 1.29,30

2. Genesis 9.4-6

3. We were made in the Image of God.
